Butterfly Table

By House of Finn Juhl

The Butterfly Table, designed by Finn Juhl in 1949, is a very exclusive table. It was practically never produced at its time of creation. Displayed alongside the iconic Chieftain Chair, Chieftain Sofa, and Egyptian Chair during the famous 1949 Guild Exhibition, the Butterfly Table was on behalf of cabinetmaker Niels Vodder. The table is manufactured in walnut with a circular brass inlay.

Designed in 1949, the three-legged and organically shaped coffee table is a very typical Finn Juhl design and stands as a testament to detailed beauty and craftsmanship. Opening the table is done by lifting the hanging part and sliding the whole tabletop over the base into a central position where all sides have equal amounts of support from the three legs.

The very unconventional table looks deceptively delicate and is today produced in walnut with a circular brass inlay.
