Architect Gio Ponti
SMINK has the pleasure of presenting the GIO PONTI COLLECTION of newly reissued classics, manufactured by MOLTENI & C in conjunction with Studio Cerri & Associates and with the full endorsement of the Ponti estate and heirs.
The Collection includes the aluminum chair designed in 1935 for the Palazzo Montecatini in Milan, the iconic elm essence of drawers – featuring different wood handles in elm, Italian walnut, mahogany and rosewood (the chest in two sizes), the multilayered elm clad bookcase (tall or short), the tea table with metal legs, a hand-painted grid and sheer crystal glass top, the famous armchair in satin finish frame with two tone leather upholstery (blue and white), the ‘pony skin’ rug (cowhide) and the mirrored frames in three sizes.
The Collection has been presented in the Venice Biennial 2012, and then separately with Molteni’s dealers in Paris, London, New York City, Dallas and Los Angeles.
SMINK is hosting a private celebration to present the GIO PONTI COLLECTION, on the evening of May 2nd from 5pm until 8pm, complete with a hosted talk by the celebrated HERITAGE AUCTION HOUSE on the work, the style, and the influence of the Architect Gio Ponti.
Show runs through June 22, 2013.
